With the extension of the WSH Act in Sept 2011, all workplaces are now required to implement risk management to ensure the safety and health of their employees. Getting your business safe and ready will be the main focus of the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council's bizSAFE Convention 2012:
Date:                                    Thursday, 16 Feb 2012
Main session time:           9am - 12pm (Registration starts at 9am, lunch from 12 to 1pm)

Venue:                                 Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore
Guest of Honour:               Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister of State for Manpower and National Development
Why attend?
Held for the 4th consecutive year, this annual event gives an opportunity to all companies in Singapore to understand the relevance of the bizSAFE programme in being an integral part of their business model and why excellent WSH performance makes business sense for them. bizSAFE is a 5-step systematic programme developed by the WSH Council to help companies build their WSH capabilities and strengthen their WSH management system. Companies can also tap on the WSH professionals and service providers present for WSH solutions and advice.
This Convention will also showcase the inaugural bizSAFE Awards winners who will share how WSH excellence has helped enhance their business bottomlines.
Customised afternoon sessions to meet different needs
In conjunction with this Convention, a series of bizSAFE Level 1 workshops (in both English and Mandarin) are offered free to help attending companies’ CEOs/Top Management embark on their WSH journey. Attendees may also sign up for the Presentations in the afternoon or the worksite visit.

Process Safety Management at the 14th APCChe Congress in Singapore
The WSH Council and Ministry of Manpower (MOM) are supporting the 14th Asia Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering (APCChE) Congress. Co-organised by the Singapore Chemical Industry Council, this event will allow participants to network and share knowledge. Two seminars during the APCChe will be especially relevant.
1) Process Safety Management Seminar (7 SDU points)
Process Safety Management (PSM) integrates technology, procedures and management practices to minimise the risks associated with handling highly hazardous chemicals. This seminar helps you understand critical PSM elements necessary for managing Process Safety. Renowned PSM experts will share knowledge, experiences and challenges encountered in achieving and sustaining zero incident operation, including Process Safety Culture and Process Safety Performance Indicators. This session will remind all of how “Zero Incident Operation” can be achieved.
Date:            23 Feb 2012 (Thu)
Time:           8.30a.m. - 5.30p.m.

2) Sustainability in Practice Seminar
Demand for stronger corporate governance and transparency. Volatile commodity prices and variability of energy supply. Aging workforce. These and more issues are shaking up companies and countries over the world.
As consumers and public are now more focused on environmentally friendly and socially responsible products, companies have to create strong value propositions to differentiate themselves and sustain their businesses. This symposium focuses on methodologies to cultivate a robust sustainability culture. It will help companies to make sustainability a practical and integral part of creating stakeholder value by “doing more with less”.
